Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.

Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Job 19 is a pinnacle of the book. Amidst his pain and his friends' accusations, Job declares his faith in a living Redeemer who will stand upon the earth in the latter day.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. I Know that my Redeemer Liveth: This is one of the greatest confessions of faith in Scripture (v. 25). Faith is most powerful when it shines in the middle of a "midnight" experience.2. Bodily Resurrection: "In my flesh shall I see God" (v. 26). Job looked forward to a day when his suffering body would be restored and he would behold his God personally.
3. The Warning to Critics: Job warns his friends to "be ye afraid of the sword" because of their unjust judgments. God takes the mistreatment of His suffering children seriously.
Practical Lessons
FORMAL PRAYER
We thank Thee, O Lord, that our Redeemer liveth! We rest in the hope that one day we shall see Thee face to face, and all our tears will be wiped away in Thy presence. Amen.
