Chapter Study & Analysis

Job 37 describes the awesome power of God in the weather—thunder, lightning, and snow. Elihu challenges Job to "stand still and consider the wondrous works of God."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Stand Still and Consider: We often miss God’s glory because we are too busy. True wisdom requires moments of quiet observation of God’s creation (v. 14).
2. God’s Control of the Elements: God commands the snow and the rain. If He can manage the complexities of the atmosphere, He can manage the complexities of our lives.
3. Unsearchable Majesty: "Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out" (v. 23). We must accept that God’s power and justice are far beyond our limited comprehension.

FORMAL PRAYER

We stand in awe of Thy wondrous works, O God. Teach us to be still and recognize Thy majesty in the thunder and the quiet snow alike. Amen.
