Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.

Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Job 36 is Elihu’s final exaltation of God’s power and purpose in affliction. He argues that God uses suffering to deliver the soul from pride and to "seal their instruction," inviting Job to behold God’s majesty.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. The Purpose of the Fetters: God shows men their work and their transgressions when they are "bound in fetters" of affliction (v. 8-9). Trials are often God’s megaphone to a deaf soul.2. The Magnitude of God: "Behold, God is great, and we know him not" (v. 26). Acknowledging God’s incomprehensibility is actually a sign of spiritual maturity.
3. Magnifying His Work: We are called to "magnify his work, which men behold" (v. 24). Our focus should shift from our pain to God’s praise.
Practical Lessons
FORMAL PRAYER
Help us, O Lord, to behold Thy greatness. May we use our seasons of "fetters" to listen to Thy instruction and to magnify Thy works in the sight of all men. Amen.
