Job 15 Study & Commentary
Job 15 contains Eliphaz’s second speech. He becomes more aggressive, accusing Job of casting off fear and restraining prayer. He describes the restless and miserable life of the wicked as a warning to Job.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. The Escalation of Conflict: When we stop listening, we start attacking. Eliphaz moved from gentle advice to harsh accusations (v. 4-6). We must guard against the heat of debate.2. The Restlessness of Sin: Eliphaz accurately describes the "terrible sound" in the ears of the wicked (v. 21). Sin robs a person of peace and replaces it with constant dread.
3. Misapplying Truth: While his description of the wicked is biblically sound, his application to Job was a "miserable" error. We must ensure our diagnosis matches the person’s actual condition.
