Chapter Study & Analysis

Job 27 records Job’s oath of integrity. He refuses to agree with his friends' false accusations and maintains that as long as he has breath, he will not speak wickedness or deceit.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Unyielding Integrity: "My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go" (v. 6). Integrity is a choice we must make every day, regardless of the pressure to compromise.
2. The Hope of the Hypocrite: Job agrees that the hypocrite has no hope when God takes away his soul (v. 8). True faith is internal, not just a mask for the world to see.
3. Consistency of Heart: Job’s heart would not "reproach" him as long as he lived. We should strive for a conscience that is clear before both God and man.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord, keep our hearts sincere and our lips free from deceit. May we hold fast to our righteousness through Thy grace, and may our hearts never reproach us in Thy presence. Amen.
