Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Job 10 is a continuation of Job’s prayer/complaint to God. He asks why God created him with such care only to destroy him, and begs for a little comfort before he dies.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. The Intimacy of Creation: "Thine hands have made me and fashioned me" (v. 8). We are God’s handiwork; He has a deep, personal interest in our existence.
2. Asking for "Why": Job asks, "Shew me wherefore thou contendest with me" (v. 2). It is not a sin to ask God for clarity, provided we do so with a heart that is still submitted to Him.
3. Seeking a "Breathing Room": Job asks for a "little" comfort (v. 20). In long trials, it is okay to ask God for a moment of relief to regain our strength.
Practical Lessons
FORMAL PRAYER
Remember, Lord, that Thou hast made us as the clay. In Thy judgment, remember mercy, and grant us a "little comfort" that we may endure the trials Thou hast set before us. Amen.
