Chapter Study & Analysis

Acts 3 records the healing of a lame man at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple by Peter and John. This miracle serves as the catalyst for Peter’s second sermon, where he proclaims Jesus as the Prince of Life and calls Israel to national repentance.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. More Than Gold: Peter had no silver or gold, but he gave what he had—the name of Jesus (v. 6). Our greatest gift to the world is not material aid, but the transforming power of the Savior.
2. Faith in the Name: The man was made strong through "faith in his name" (v. 16). We must recover our confidence in the authority of Jesus’ name to bring healing and restoration to broken lives.
3. Times of Refreshing: Repentance leads to "times of refreshing" from the presence of the Lord (v. 19). Forgiveness is not just a legal status but a source of ongoing spiritual renewal and peace.

FORMAL PRAYER

O Prince of Life, who dost heal the broken and restore the lame: we invoke Thy holy name over our lives. Grant that we may seek spiritual refreshing through repentance and always offer Thee more than the treasures of this world. Amen.
