Chapter Study & Analysis

Acts 18 records Paul’s ministry in Corinth, his partnership with Aquila and Priscilla, and the beginning of his third missionary journey. It also introduces Apollos, an eloquent man who is further instructed in the way of God.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Encouragement of the Lord: Jesus told Paul, "Be not afraid... for I am with thee" (v. 9-10). When we feel isolated in our mission, we must remember the promise of Christ’s constant presence.
2. Partnership in the Gospel: Paul worked alongside others like Aquila and Priscilla (v. 2-3). Ministry is not a solo effort; we need the support and collaboration of the body of Christ.
3. Humility in Learning: Even an eloquent man like Apollos was willing to be taught more perfectly by a lay-couple (v. 26). We should always remain teachable, regardless of our gifts or position.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord of all Wisdom, who didst sustain Thy servant Paul in Corinth: deliver us from all fear and silence. Grant us the humility of Apollos to be taught, and the hospitality of Aquila and Priscilla to serve. May Thy Word increase through our united labor. Amen.
