Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Acts 20 records Paul’s final journey to Jerusalem, including the raising of Eutychus and his moving farewell address to the Ephesian elders at Miletus. He emphasizes the value of the "whole counsel of God" and the priority of finishing his course with joy.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. The Whole Counsel: Paul did not shun to declare the whole counsel of God (v. 27). We must be faithful to the entire Bible, not just the parts that are comfortable or popular.
2. Selfless Leadership: Paul worked with his own hands and did not covet silver or gold (v. 33-34). Leaders in the church are called to be examples of sacrificial service and integrity.
3. The Joy of the Race: Paul’s priority was to "finish my course with joy" (v. 24). Our ultimate success is not measured by earthly comfort but by our faithfulness to the ministry received from the Lord.
