Chapter Study & Analysis

Matthew 25 continues the theme of readiness through three parables: the Ten Virgins, the Talents, and the Sheep and the Goats. It emphasizes personal responsibility, stewardship, and the finality of the coming judgment.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Individual Preparedness: Like the wise virgins, we must have our own "oil" of the Spirit (v. 9). We cannot live off the faith or spiritual vitality of others; we must have our own relationship with Christ.
2. Diligent Stewardship: God expects us to use our "talents"—our time, resources, and abilities—for His increase (v. 19). Fear is not an excuse for burying what God has entrusted to us.
3. The Least of These: Christ identifies Himself with the hungry, the stranger, and the prisoner (v. 40). Our service to the vulnerable is the ultimate litmus test of our love for Him.

FORMAL PRAYER

O Heavenly Master, who hast entrusted us with Thy goods: grant that we may be good and faithful stewards. Prepare us for Thy coming, that our lamps may be burning bright. Teach us to see Thy face in the poor and the suffering, and to serve them as unto Thee. Amen.
