Chapter Study & Analysis

Ezekiel 6 - Against the Mountains of Israel: A prophecy against the high places and altars of Israel. God promises to scatter the bones of the idolaters around their altars.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The End of Idolatry: God focuses on destroying the "images" and "idols" that the people trusted in instead of Him.
2. The Remnant that Remembers: God promises that those who escape will "remember me among the nations," showing that exile serves to bring a "broken heart" (v. 9).
3. "They shall know that I am the Lord": A recurring phrase in Ezekiel. The ultimate goal of judgment is the recognition of God's identity.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. The Futility of False Worship: Our "high places" (the things we prioritize over God) will eventually fail us in the day of trouble.
2. Brokenness as a Path to Memory: Sometimes it takes a crisis to make us truly remember God.
