Chapter Study & Analysis

Ezekiel 30 - The Day of Egypt: A continuation of the judgment, describing the "cloudy day" when the "multitude of Egypt" shall cease. All the cities (Pathros, Zoan, No, Sin) will feel the sword.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The Darkening of the Day: Using apocalyptic language to describe the end of Egypt’s glory.
2. The Breaking of the Arms: God breaks the "arms" of Pharaoh so he cannot hold the sword, while strengthening the arms of the King of Babylon.
3. Sovereignty over Idols: "I will also destroy the idols... out of Noph" (v. 13).

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. The Helplessness of the Wicked: When God "breaks the arm," no human physician or power can heal it.
2. Consistency of Judgment: Just as Jerusalem fell for her sins, the great empires of the world face their own "day" of reckoning.
