Chapter Study & Analysis

Ezekiel 47 - The River of Life: Ezekiel sees water issuing from under the threshold of the Temple. The water becomes a river that deepens as it flows, healing the Dead Sea and bringing life, fish, and fruit trees wherever it goes.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The Source of Life: The river flows "from the sanctuary" (v. 12). Life comes from God’s presence.
2. Deepening Grace: The water goes from the ankles to the knees, to the loins, and finally to "waters to swim in"—symbolizing the depth of God’s Spirit.
3. The Healing of the Earth: Even the Dead Sea is "healed," showing that God’s grace can restore the most "dead" parts of creation.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. Spiritual Growth: We should not stay in the "ankle-deep" water; God calls us to the depths of His grace.
2. Productivity: Trees that bear fruit "every month" show that a life connected to God’s river is always fruitful.
