Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Ezekiel 39 - The Burial of Gog: The total defeat of Gog’s army on the mountains of Israel. The weapons will be burned for seven years, and it will take seven months to bury the dead. God explains that the exile happened because of sin, but the restoration is final.
THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. The Feast of the Fowls: A grim invitation to the birds and beasts to eat the flesh of the mighty—a reversal of the glory of the nations.
2. The Purity of the Land: The intensive burying process (v. 11-16) emphasizes the need to cleanse the land from the "defilement" of death.
3. The Hiding and Showing of the Face: Explaining the mechanics of the Covenant: sin caused the "hiding" of God's face; restoration involves the "pouring out" of His Spirit.

PRACTICAL LESSONS
