Chapter Study & Analysis

Ezekiel 35 - Against Mount Seir: A prophecy against Edom for their "perpetual hatred" and for attempting to seize Israel’s land during the desolation. God promises to make Mount Seir a perpetual desolation.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. Perpetual Hatred: God judges the long-term, ancestral bitterness that Edom held against Israel.
2. Land Greed: They tried to claim the "two nations" (Israel and Judah) for themselves, ignoring that "the Lord was there" (v. 10).
3. Lex Talionis: As Edom delighted in blood, blood will pursue them.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. The Danger of Bitterness: Holding onto ancient grudges leads to a "desolation" of the soul.
2. God’s Presence as Protection: The land was safe not because of its walls, but because of God's presence.
