Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Ezekiel 36 - Restoration of the Land and the Spirit: God promises to restore the mountains of Israel. He reaffirms that for His "holy name's sake," He will sprinkle clean water on His people, giving them a new heart and a new spirit.
THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. Vindication of the Name: God acts to clear His reputation which was "profaned" among the heathen by Israel's conduct.
2. Ceremonial and Moral Cleansing: "I will sprinkle clean water upon you... From all your filthiness... will I cleanse you" (v. 25).
3. The Indwelling Spirit: "I will put my spirit within you" (v. 27). This is the "Engine" of the New Covenant.
Practical Lessons
PRACTICAL LESSONS
1. Grace precedes Obedience: God gives the "New Heart" first so that we *can* walk in His statutes.
2. God’s Zeal for His Honor: Our salvation is primarily for God’s glory, which is our greatest security.
