THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. Son of Man (Ben-Adam): A title emphasizing Ezekiel's humanity in contrast to God's transcendence. Used over 90 times in the book.
2. The Rebellious House: God describes Israel as "impudent and stiffhearted," preparing the prophet for the difficulty of his task.
3. The Internalized Word: The scroll contains "lamentations, and mourning, and woe," yet Ezekiel must digest it completely.
Practical Lessons & Daily Application
PRACTICAL LESSONS
1. Faithfulness over Results: The success of the prophet is measured by his obedience, whether the people "will hear, or whether they will forbear" (v. 5).
2. Courage against Opposition: We must not be afraid of the "briers and thorns" of human rejection when speaking God's truth.
