Chapter Study & Analysis

Ezekiel 43 - The Glory Returns: Ezekiel sees the Glory of God returning from the East. The Glory fills the Temple, and God declares, "This is the place of my throne." The prophet is told to show the pattern of the house to Israel so they may be ashamed of their iniquities.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The Restoration of Presence: This is the reversal of Chapter 10. The Glory returns to stay (v. 7).
2. The Law of the House: "Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy" (v. 12).
3. The Altar of Sacrifice: Meticulous instructions for the altar, showing that even in this future state, atonement is central to the relationship with God.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. Shame and Pattern: Seeing God’s "pattern" or holiness should lead us to repentance for our "disorderly" lives.
2. The Goal of Faith: The ultimate "prize" is not the building, but the presence of the Glory filling the house.
