Chapter Study & Analysis

Ezekiel 15 - The Useless Vine: God compares Jerusalem to a vine tree among the trees of the forest. Unlike other wood, the vine is useless if it doesn't produce fruit; it is only fit for the fire.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The Fruitless Vine: Israel’s only purpose was to produce spiritual fruit for God. Without it, they are less useful than the wood of a forest tree.
2. Consumed by Fire: Since the vine is already scorched at both ends (previous invasions), it will now be utterly burned.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. The Purpose of Election: Being "chosen" is for the purpose of bearing fruit; privilege without production leads to judgment.
2. The Fragility of Pride: If we are not fulfilling God’s purpose, we have no inherent "value" in ourselves to boast of.
