Chapter Study & Analysis

2 Chronicles 7 records God’s response: fire falls from heaven to consume the sacrifice. God appears to Solomon at night and gives the famous promise of healing the land if His people humble themselves and pray.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Fire as Approval: The fire showed that God accepted the sacrifice. In the New Covenant, we look for the "fire" of the Spirit to confirm God’s work in our hearts.
2. The Condition for Revival: "If my people... shall humble themselves" (v. 14). Revival doesn’t start with the world; it starts with the church repenting and seeking God’s face.
3. The Danger of Apostasy: God warned that if they turned away, the house would become a "proverb" of judgment. Our past victories do not exempt us from the need for future faithfulness.

FORMAL PRAYER

If we have sinned, Lord, help us to humble ourselves and pray. Hear Thou from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land according to Thy gracious promise. Amen.
