Chapter Study & Analysis

2 Chronicles 29 records Hezekiah’s immediate reform. In his first year, he opened and repaired the doors of the Temple, sanctified the priests, and restored the sacrificial worship with great rejoicing.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. First Priorities First: Hezekiah didn't wait; he began reforms in his first month (v. 3). When we decide to return to God, the best time to start is immediately.
2. Sanctifying the Inner House: The Temple had to be cleansed of "filthiness" (v. 5). Spiritual renewal begins with a thorough internal house-cleaning of our hearts.
3. The Joy of Restoration: When the worship was restored, the people rejoiced. True joy is a byproduct of being in a right relationship with God.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord, grant us the urgency of Hezekiah to restore Thy worship in our lives. Sanctify our hearts and fill us with the joy that comes from walking in Thy ways. Amen.
