Chapter Study & Analysis

2 Chronicles 17 follows Jehoshaphat’s rise. He strengthens Judah not only through military means but by sending Levites and priests throughout the land to teach the Book of the Law to the people.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Strength through Scripture: Jehoshaphat knew that a nation is only as strong as its knowledge of God’s Word (v. 9). Biblical literacy is the greatest defense against spiritual and social decay.
2. Godly Leadership: He walked in the "first ways of his father David." We should strive to return to the foundational principles of faith that God has already blessed.
3. Divine Favor: The fear of the Lord fell on the surrounding kingdoms because of Judah’s devotion. When we honor God, He handles our reputation and our enemies.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord, stir in us a hunger for Thy Word. May we be like the teachers of Judah, spreading the knowledge of Thy truth in our homes and communities, that Thy Name may be feared and honored. Amen.
