Overview
The LORD calls Moses and speaks from the tabernacle concerning the burnt sacrifice. Whether from the herd, the sheep, or fowls, the offering must be a male "without blemish." It is a voluntary act, and the blood is sprinkled round about the altar, creating a "sweet savour unto the LORD."
Practical Lessons
1. Giving Our Best: The requirement for an offering "without blemish" teaches that God deserves the first and best of our lives, not our leftovers.
2. Total Consecration: Unlike other offerings, the burnt sacrifice was entirely consumed, symbolizing a life fully surrendered to God.
3. Acceptance through Sacrifice: The offering was made "for his atonement," reminding us that we are only accepted before a Holy God through a perfect substitute.
