Chapter Study & Analysis

This chapter details the meat (grain) offering, made of fine flour, oil, and frankincense. It must be seasoned with salt—the salt of the covenant—and must contain no leaven or honey. A portion is burnt as a memorial, and the remnant belongs to Aaron and his sons.
1. Purity in Service: The prohibition of leaven (symbolizing sin) and honey (natural sweetness) teaches that our service to God must be pure and not based on human emotion.
2. The Salt of the Covenant: Salt represents durability and preservation; our commitment to God should be incorruptible.
3. God’s Provision for Ministers: By granting the remnant to the priests, God shows that He provides for those who serve His sanctuary.
