Chapter Study & Analysis

On the eighth day, Aaron begins his ministry by offering sacrifices for himself and for the people. Moses and Aaron bless the people, and "the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people." Fire comes out from before the LORD and consumes the burnt offering on the altar, and the people shout and fall on their faces.
1. The Goal of Worship: The ultimate purpose of all sacrifices and rituals was to see the glory of the LORD revealed.
2. Divine Approval: The fire from heaven was God’s visible sign that He accepted the priesthood and the offerings.
3. Reverent Response: Seeing God’s presence led the people to "shout" for joy and "fall on their faces" in awe.
