Chapter Study & Analysis

God commands a Sabbath for the land every seven years. Furthermore, every fiftieth year is the Year of Jubilee, a time when liberty is proclaimed, debts are cancelled, and every man returns to his family and his possession.
1. God Owns the Land: "The land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me." We are merely stewards of what God provides.
2. Social Justice and Mercy: The Jubilee prevented the permanent cycle of poverty and debt, showing God’s heart for restoration.
3. The Kinsman-Redeemer: This chapter introduces the laws of redemption, pointing to Christ as our "Goel" who redeems our lost inheritance.
