Chapter Study & Analysis

God forbids the slaughter of animals anywhere except at the door of the tabernacle. A strict command is given: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls." Eating blood is strictly prohibited.
1. The High Value of Life: Life is a gift from God, and the blood is its sacred carrier.
2. No Atonement without Blood: This is the central theme of the entire Bible (Hebrews 9:22). It points directly to the precious blood of Christ.
3. Centralized Worship: By requiring sacrifices at the tabernacle, God prevented the people from sliding into private, idolatrous worship.
