Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Jeremiah 48 - Judgment on Moab: A lengthy oracle against Moab, citing their pride, security, and trust in their god Chemosh. God promises to bring "the year of their visitation" but hints at a future return of their captivity.
THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. The Curse of Slackness: "Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully [negligently]" (v. 10). God demands full execution of His word.
2. The Settled Wine: Moab is compared to wine "settled on his lees" (v. 11), having never been emptied from vessel to vessel; they were stagnant in their pride.
3. The Shame of Chemosh: The false god is shown to be unable to save his people from the "spoiler."
Practical Lessons
PRACTICAL LESSONS

2. Total Commitment: Doing God’s work requires diligence and "all our heart," not half-hearted efforts.
