Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Deuteronomy 30 offers the promise of restoration if Israel repents while in exile. Moisés sets before the people life and death, blessing and cursing, urging them to "choose life" by loving God and obeying His voice.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. The Heart of Repentance: God promises to "circumcise thine heart" so that we can love Him (v. 6). True obedience is an internal work of grace, not just external conformity.
2. The Accessibility of the Word: The commandment is not "far off" or in heaven, but "very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart" (v. 11-14). We have no excuse for ignorance; the Truth is available to us.
3. The Great Choice: Every person faces the choice between life and death (v. 19). Choosing life is synonymous with loving God, obeying His voice, and cleaving unto Him.
