And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbor shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbor, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD's release.

Every seven years, debts are to be canceled and Hebrew slaves set free. Moses commands the people to be open-handed toward the poor, promising that God will bless them for their generosity.
1. A Heart of Generosity: We should give to those in need without a "grudging heart."
2. The Cycle of Release: God values freedom and the restoration of those who have fallen into hardship.
3. Firstlings for God: Giving the first and best of our livestock (or resources) recognizes God’s ownership of everything.
