Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
2 Kings 6 describes the floating axe head and the Aramean attempt to capture Elisha. When surrounded by an army, Elisha prays for his servant’s eyes to be opened to see the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. God Cares About Our Tools: The floating axe head (v. 6) shows that God cares about the practical things we lose and the stress they cause.
2. The Reality of the Invisible: "They that be with us are more than they that be with them" (v. 16). When we feel outnumbered, we must pray for spiritual eyes to see God’s angelic protection.
3. Overcoming Evil with Good: Elisha fed his enemies instead of killing them (v. 22). Kindness can sometimes be a more powerful weapon than the sword.
Practical Lessons
