Chapter Study & Analysis

2 Kings 22 follows the rise of the boy-king Josiah. During the repair of the Temple, the "Book of the Law" is discovered. Upon hearing its words, Josiah rends his clothes and seeks the Lord in deep repentance.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Power of the Word: The kingdom was transformed simply by finding and reading the Bible (v. 11). There is no substitute for the raw, unadulterated Word of God in bringing revival.
2. A Tender Heart: God noted that Josiah’s heart was "tender" (v. 19). We should pray for a heart that is sensitive to God’s Spirit and quick to repent when we fall short of His standards.
3. Rebuilding the Foundation: Josiah started with the Temple. Our personal revival must begin with repairing our relationship with God and honoring His presence.

FORMAL PRAYER

Grant us, O Lord, a tender heart like Josiah’s. May Thy Word be found and honored in our lives, bringing us to true repentance and a renewed passion for Thy holiness. Amen.
