Chapter Study & Analysis

Joshua 18 records the setting up of the Tabernacle at Shiloh and the surveying of the remaining land for the seven tribes that had not yet received their inheritance.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Center of Worship: Establishing the Tabernacle at Shiloh (v. 1) prioritized God’s presence in the center of the nation. Our lives must be organized around our relationship with Him.
2. Overcoming Procrastination: Joshua asked, "How long are ye slack to go to possess the land?" (v. 3). We must guard against spiritual laziness and move forward to claim the promises God has already made available.
3. Order and Diligence: The land was carefully described in a book (v. 9). God values order, planning, and clear communication in the administration of His work.

FORMAL PRAYER

Almighty God, let Thy presence be the center of all our plans. Forgive us for our slackness and grant us the diligence to move forward and possess the spiritual inheritance Thou hast prepared for us. Amen.
