Chapter Study & Analysis

Romans 16 is a personal conclusion filled with greetings to various coworkers and friends. It includes a final warning against those who cause divisions and a doxology praising God for the revelation of the mystery of Christ.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Value of Every Worker: Paul’s long list of names (v. 1-15) shows that the mission of the church depends on many faithful people, both men and women, often working in the background.
2. Vigilance against Division: We are warned to "mark them" which cause divisions contrary to the doctrine (v. 17). We must protect the peace and doctrinal purity of our local congregations.
3. God’s Final Victory: The God of peace shall bruise Satan under our feet shortly (v. 20). This promise gives us the ultimate assurance of victory over evil through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

FORMAL PRAYER

To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. We thank Thee for the coworkers in the Gospel and for the strength Thou givest to establish us in Thy Word. Keep us wise unto that which is good and simple concerning evil. Amen.
