Chapter Study & Analysis

Romans 15 encourages the strong to bear the infirmities of the weak, following the example of Christ. Paul shares his missionary heart and his desire to bring the Gospel to unreached regions like Spain, asking for the church’s prayers.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Example of Christ: Even Christ pleased not Himself (v. 3). True spiritual maturity is measured by our willingness to sacrifice our preferences for the benefit and edification of others.
2. Hope through Scripture: The things written aforetime were written for our learning, that we might have hope (v. 4). We must consistently return to the Old Testament to find encouragement and divine perspective.
3. Unity in Worship: The goal of the church is to "with one mind and one mouth glorify God" (v. 6). Our unity is not an end in itself; it is for the purpose of demonstrating God’s glory to the world.

FORMAL PRAYER

Now the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, that we may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost. Grant us to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus, that we may glorify Thee together. Amen.
