Chapter Study & Analysis

Revelation 5 focuses on the "sealed book" that no man was worthy to open. John weeps until the "Lamb as it had been slain" appears. As the Lion of the tribe of Juda, Christ takes the book, sparking a universal chorus of praise.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Worthiness of the Lamb: Only Jesus is worthy to open the seals of history (v. 5-9). He is the only one who can make sense of the past and secure the future.
2. Redeemed from Every Nation: Christ has redeemed us to God by His blood out of "every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation" (v. 9). This is the foundation of the Church’s global mission and unity.
3. Kings and Priests: Through Christ’s work, we are made "kings and priests" unto our God (v. 10). This is our current spiritual status and our future reigning role in His kingdom.

FORMAL PRAYER

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. We thank Thee, O Lord, for redeeming us by Thy blood and making us unto our God kings and priests. Amen.
