Chapter Study & Analysis

Revelation 22 depicts the river of the water of life and the tree of life. It contains Christ’s final warning and promise: "Behold, I come quickly." The Bible concludes with an invitation to "come" and a benediction of grace.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Water of Life: The invitation is open: "whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" (v. 17). The Gospel remains a message of free grace to all who thirst for God.
2. The Imminence of His Coming: Jesus says three times in this chapter, "I come quickly" (v. 7, 12, 20). We must live with a "Maranatha" heart, expecting His return at any moment.
3. Guarding the Word: A solemn warning is given against adding to or taking away from the words of this book (v. 18-19). We must handle the Scriptures with the utmost reverence and integrity.

FORMAL PRAYER

Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Grant that Thy grace may be with us all, that we may have right to the tree of life and enter in through the gates into the city. Amen.
