Chapter Study & Analysis

Mark 12 features the Parable of the Wicked Husbandmen and a series of confrontations regarding taxes, the resurrection, and the greatest commandment. It concludes with Jesus’ observation of the widow’s mite, highlighting true sacrifice.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Corner Stone: Rejecting Christ leads to spiritual ruin, but those who build on Him find a sure foundation (v. 10). We must ensure that our lives are aligned with the Chief Corner Stone.
2. The Whole Heart: The Greatest Commandment (v. 30) reminds us that God is not interested in fragmented devotion. He desires our total love—heart, soul, mind, and strength.
3. The Value of Sacrifice: The widow gave only two mites, but Jesus called it "more than all" (v. 43). God measures our giving not by the amount, but by the sacrifice and the heart behind it.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord of Glory, who art the Chief Corner Stone: teach us to love Thee with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves. Deliver us from the pride of the Scribes and grant us the sacrificial spirit of the widow, that we may offer our all to Thee. Amen.
