Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Hebrews 3 compares Jesus to Moses, noting that while Moses was a faithful servant in God’s house, Christ is the Son over His own house. The author warns the believers not to harden their hearts as Israel did in the wilderness.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. Considering Christ: We are told to "consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus" (v. 1). Our spiritual health depends on the intensity and frequency of our focus on Him.
2. Guarding Against Unbelief: "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief" (v. 12). Unbelief is not just a mental struggle; it is a moral issue that hardens the heart against God’s voice.
3. The Power of Exhortation: We are to exhort one another "daily, while it is called To day" (v. 13). We have a mutual responsibility to keep our brothers and sisters from being hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
Practical Lessons
