Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
1 Chronicles 29 details the overwhelming generosity of the leaders and people. David offers a magnificent prayer of praise, Solomon is anointed king for the second time, and David dies in a "good old age."
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. The Source of Giving: David acknowledged that everything they gave already belonged to God (v. 14). Stewardship is simply returning to God what He already owns.
2. Joy in Generosity: The people rejoiced because they offered "willingly." Giving to God’s work should be an act of celebration, not a burden of obligation.
3. Finishing Well: David died "full of days, riches, and honour" (v. 28). A life spent preparing for God’s glory is a life that ends with true significance.
Practical Lessons
FORMAL PRAYER
Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory. We thank Thee that we are able to offer anything at all to Thee. May our lives finish with the same joy and honor as David’s. Amen.
