Esther 10 Study & Commentary

Esther 10 concludes the book with a brief record of the greatness of King Ahasuerus and the advancement of Mordecai the Jew. Mordecai becomes second only to the king, seeking the wealth of his people and speaking peace to all his seed.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Influence for Good: Mordecai used his high office to "seek the wealth of his people" (v. 3). When God promotes us, it is for the benefit of others, not just our own comfort.
2. Speaking Peace: A godly leader is a peacemaker. Mordecai’s legacy was one of stability and peace for future generations.
3. The Completion of Providence: The book ends with the "orphan" and the "refusal-to-bow" man in positions of supreme authority. God finishes what He starts.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord, when Thou liftest us up, help us to seek the welfare of others. May our lives speak peace to those around us, and may we be faithful stewards of the influence Thou hast given us. Amen.
