Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Esther 7 describes Esther’s second banquet where she reveals Haman’s plot and her own heritage. The king is enraged and orders Haman to be hanged on the very gallows he built for Mordecai.
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. The Exposure of Evil: Evil works best in the dark; Esther brought Haman’s plot into the light (v. 6). Truth is the greatest weapon against the schemes of the enemy.2. The Law of the Harvest: Haman fell into the pit he dug for another (v. 10). This is a biblical principle: what a man sows, that shall he also reap.
3. Boldness in Speech: Esther spoke clearly and directly. We must be prepared to give a defense for our people and our faith when the opportunity arises.
Practical Lessons
FORMAL PRAYER
Lord, let the hidden works of darkness be exposed. May those who plot evil fall into their own snares, and grant us the boldness to speak the truth in the presence of power. Amen.
