Chapter Study & Analysis

Micah 3 - Judgment on Corrupt Leaders: Micah denounces the princes for "eating the flesh of my people" and the prophets who "divine for money." He declares that because of their corruption, Zion shall be "plowed as a field."

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. Cannibalistic Leadership: Using graphic metaphors to show how leaders were consuming the very people they were supposed to protect.
2. Spiritual Blindness: God will hide His face from the false prophets, leaving them in darkness without a vision.
3. The Power of the Spirit (v. 8): Micah contrasts himself with the false prophets, being "full of power by the spirit of the Lord" to declare sin.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. Authority as Stewardship: Leadership is for service, not for self-enrichment or exploitation.
2. The Courage of Truth: True spiritual power is often shown in the courage to speak uncomfortable truths to those in power.
