Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Micah 2 - Oppression and True Prophecy: A woe against those who "devise iniquity" on their beds and seize the fields of the poor. Micah rebukes the false prophets who tell him not to prophesy, and ends with a promise of the "Breaker" gathering the remnant.
THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. Social Predation: Rebuking the powerful for using their position to take the inheritance of others.
2. The Counterfeit Word: The people preferred prophets who "prophesy of wine and of strong drink" (v. 11) over those who speak God’s truth.
3. The Breaker (v. 13): A Messianic title for the One who breaks open the way and leads His people as their King.
