Chapter Study & Analysis

Ezra 6 details the decree of Darius, which confirms Cyrus’s original order. The Temple is finished and dedicated with great joy, followed by the celebration of the Passover.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. God Provides through His Enemies: Darius not only allowed the work but ordered the enemies to pay for it (v. 8). God can turn the resources of the world toward His holy purposes.
2. The Joy of Completion: Finishing the Temple was a milestone of grace. We should celebrate the milestones of our spiritual journey and give God all the glory.
3. Purity in Worship: The Passover was kept by those who had "separated themselves... from the filthiness of the heathen" (v. 21). True worship requires a heart separated unto God.

FORMAL PRAYER

We rejoice, O Lord, in Thy faithful provision. Help us to dedicate all our achievements to Thee and to live a life of purity that honors Thy presence in our midst. Amen.
