Chapter Study & Analysis

2 Corinthians 5 discusses our heavenly dwelling and the "ministry of reconciliation." Paul explains that because Christ died for all, believers are now new creatures and ambassadors for Christ, pleading with the world to be reconciled to God.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Walking by Faith: We walk by faith, not by sight (v. 7). Our confidence is in the character and promises of God, even when the current environment suggests otherwise.
2. The New Creation: If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (v. 17). The past is gone; we must live in the reality of the new identity and nature God has given us.
3. Ambassadors for Christ: God has committed to us the word of reconciliation (v. 19-20). We are His official representatives on earth, called to invite others back into a relationship with their Creator.

FORMAL PRAYER

Almighty God, who hast reconciled us to Thyself by Jesus Christ: help us to live as Thy faithful ambassadors. Grant that the love of Christ may constrain us to live no longer for ourselves, but for Him who died and rose again for us. Amen.
