Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Zechariah 6 - The Four Chariots and the Crown: A vision of four chariots (spirits of heaven) patrolling the earth. God then commands the crowning of Joshua the High Priest, symbolizing the "Man whose name is The BRANCH" who will be both King and Priest.
THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. The Council of Peace: The unique union of the priestly and kingly offices in one person—The Branch (v. 13).
2. Heavenly Agents: The chariots represent God’s execution of His will throughout the different regions of the earth.
3. Remote Participation: The promise that those "far off" shall come and build in the Temple, hinting at the inclusion of the Gentiles.
Practical Lessons
PRACTICAL LESSONS
1. The Kingship of Christ: Jesus is not just our Priest to intercede, but our King to rule. We must submit to both offices.
2. Universal Mission: God’s plan has always involved bringing those from "far off" into His sanctuary.
