Chapter Study & Analysis

Zechariah 3 - Joshua the High Priest: A courtroom vision where Satan stands to resist Joshua the High Priest, who is dressed in filthy garments. God rebukes Satan, clothes Joshua in rich apparel, and introduces "The BRANCH."

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. Justification by Grace: The removal of filthy garments symbolizes the removal of iniquity (v. 4).
2. The Branch: A clear Messianic title. Christ is the "Branch" who will bring final cleansing.
3. A Brand Plucked from the Fire: A metaphor for God’s mercy in rescuing a remnant that was destined for destruction.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. Silencing the Accuser: Our defense against Satan’s accusations is not our own righteousness, but the change of raiment provided by God.
2. Consecration: God expects those He cleanses to "walk in my ways" and "keep my charge."
