Chapter Study & Analysis

Ephesians 3 describes the "mystery of Christ" revealed to Paul: that Gentiles are fellow heirs with Israel. Paul prays for the believers to be strengthened in the inner man and to comprehend the vast dimensions of the love of Christ.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Reach of God’s Plan: The Gospel is for all nations (v. 6). Our mission and our love must extend beyond our own culture to embrace the global family of God.
2. Inner Strength: We need to be "strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man" (v. 16). Spiritual endurance comes from an internal work of the Spirit, not just external discipline.
3. God’s Infinite Power: God is able to do "exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think" (v. 20). We should never limit our prayers or our expectations of what God can do in His Church.

FORMAL PRAYER

O Father of our Lord Jesus Christ: grant us to be rooted and grounded in love. May we comprehend the breadth and length and depth and height of Thy love, and be filled with all the fulness of God. Amen.
