Chapter Study & Analysis

Daniel 7 - The Four Beasts and the Ancient of Days: Daniel sees four great beasts coming out of the sea (Lion, Bear, Leopard, and a Dreadful beast with ten horns). Above them, the Ancient of Days sits in judgment, and the Son of Man receives an everlasting kingdom.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The Son of Man (v. 13-14): A pivotal Messianic title used by Jesus. He is seen coming with the clouds of heaven to receive dominion.
2. The Ancient of Days: A majestic portrayal of God as Judge. His throne is like fiery flame and His wheels as burning fire.
3. The Little Horn: Emerging from the fourth beast, representing a blasphemous power that speaks against the Most High but is eventually destroyed.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. The Final Verdict: No matter how terrifying earthly "beasts" (governments) appear, the final judgment belongs to God.
2. Kingdom of the Saints: God’s people will eventually possess the kingdom that shall not pass away.
